For example, if you are going after a managerial position, then you definitely need to show up in some type of appropriate and formal business attire.

Make Your Kmart Job Application Form Count

If you are going to be interviewing for an hourly position or otherwise, then you should know that you should never appear in just casual clothing. Yet, you would not believe how many people submit a Kmart job application online, get a call back for an interview, and show up in sneakers and shirts with designs and writing on them. What you should do at this stage is invest in a nice outfit; for men you can show up in some decent looking pants (no jeans), and a buttoned polo shirt or a dress shirt with a tie. For women looking for an hourly position, you can show up either in a skirt or some type of dress pants, with a sweater or blouse and definitely do not wear open toed shoes. The whole point is to look professional and presentable without going overboard regarding the position you’re applying for.

What are some of the questions they might ask during a Kmart interview?

You have filled out your Kmart application form and now you’re anxious to pass the interview with flying colors; here are the five most common questions you may be asked:

1. Why would you like to work for Kmart? This is a question that you need to have a prepared answer for, and the way you do this is by researching the company itself through their online career site. Almost every single retail company has a mission statement and Kmart is no exception. Kmart wants to provide quality services so that they can improve the lives of their customers by earning their trust and build a lifetime of relationships. You should always go into an interview knowing exactly what the company is about, the type of services they provide, and what they are hoping to accomplish.

2. Tell us about yourself. This is an open ended statement where they want to hear about your accomplishments, not your life story of when you were born and your mother cradled you in her arms. At the same time they don’t want to hear about how much fun you have every single weekend when you go out with your friends and party till the wee hours of the morning. You get the picture. They want someone who will be totally dedicated to their career, period!

3. Have you ever had a difficult situation with a customer, and tell us what you did to resolve the situation? This is one of those questions where they want to see exactly what you are made of. They’re hoping to see that you have some type of customer service skills and that you can resolve problems. Don’t be shy here, and if you do have a story that fits this question perfectly then by all means let them have it. If you’ve never been in a situation that’s been difficult while at work, you might want to explain to them how you handled another situation in your life where there was a positive outcome.

If you don’t prepare yourself well for the interview using the above-mentioned tips as a starting point, your Kmart application form might just turn into a wasted opportunity. Ask yourself, “What is it that I can do so that I can stand out apart from the rest of the crowd?” The answer is; it all starts with preparation.
